"Your Wonderful Parade" - Carpenters (HQ Remastered Audio) (HQ Render)
A Dylan and Pretty Boy video.
Carpenters, Your Wonderful Parade (1969).
From their debut album "Offering" (released October 9, 1969), Your Wonderful Parade was originally set for release as a single, but was shifted to the B-side of the powerful Ticket to Ride -- the first of their 27 singles to reach Billboard's Hot 100 -- which peaked at #54 on May 8, 1970.
Lyrics by John Bettis, music by Richard Carpenter.
Your wonderful parade,
Moving through the towns that rise and then they fade,
Over streets that pass the houses where you've stayed,
Your wonderful parade.
Your daily masquerade,
(Your daily masquerade)
Paper masks behind this face that you have made,
Crumble down upon foundations that you've laid,
Your daily masquerade.
Stand in line, try to climb,
Meet your wife at cocktail time,
Surely you should try and choose a better way to fall.
Your marvelous charade,
(Your marvelous charade)
Never could be worth the prices that you've paid,
Blindness is a part of every game you've played,
Your marvelous charade.
Stand in line, try to climb,
Meet your wife at cocktail time,
Surely you should try and choose a better way to fall.
Your marvelous charade,
(Your marvelous charade)
Never could be worth the prices that you've paid,
Blindness is a part of every game you've played,
Your marvelous charade.

A Dylan and Pretty Boy video. To the best of my knowledge, this was from an episode of the television program "Hullabaloo," broadcast on Monday, January 17, 1966, re-synced by me (to the best of my ability), in high-quality remastered audio. One of the best songs of the 1960s. "Five O'Clock" world was released in the U.S. in October 1965, peaking at number 4 on Billboard's Hot 100 on January 15...

Dylan and Pretty Boy say this is the best X-Mas song ever. This was last thing Shirley Booth did professionally. A fine end to a very long career.

A pop song punctuated with a yodel...who came up that?
I can't be sure whose exact idea it was, it could have been anyone from the songwriter, Allen Reynolds, the producers Tony Moon and Nick Cenci, the lead vocalist Bill Burkette, or the yodeler himself, Hugh Geyer. In any event, whoever it was added immeasurably to this absolute masterpiece of a song. Thank you for your interest. : )
80’s chick here but absolutely nothing beats stuff like this! Just fabulous
These videos were filmed in 1938 all young people all now long dead
Well that's a happy thought.
It's sad but they lived happy lives. Better off than we are now.
Heard this first on the wonderful end to an episode of The Bear
Great memories with this song.
I discovered this hidden gem courtesy of The Good Morning Vietnam soundtrack when I was a teenager in 1988. Now, I can relate to this as a working stuff for the past 30 plus years, even though I mostly work 3-11.
What year was this???
As noted in the title at the start of the video, the song itself was from 1965. I have added to the description for edification that, to the best of my knowledge, this particular performance was from an episode of the television program "Hullabaloo," broadcast on Monday, January 17, 1966.
I certainly hope Mellencamp got a Grammy for this song is simply outstanding tell us the whole story I dedicated it to the children with special needs and the disabled students and young adults
I had a better recording of this but UA-cam removed it from my playlist. Why? Who knows.....this isn't even in stereo. Bummed ✌
And I'm bummed for you, that's sounds just awful. This recording is in fact in stereo, so I hope you will enjoy it and add it to your playlist.
@@americanmanhood Thank you for trying to help, but I went back and searched and I found the removed video. They sing this in the street somewhere and it being in stereo is very apparent. ✌😊
Great song and great pictures 💪 Greetings from Germany and peace on earth ❤
those gals cranking the equipment just right 😊
So cute
Just beautiful, natural and so unnassuming...
John he's is always talking about something real and singing about something real. You rock❤❤
Now...how much variety of amazing sound is going on in this one song?...yes, an incredible variety and all arranged with such an artful ear and exquisite timing! I would dare any modern pop artist or group to put this much sound into a single song and make it as perfectly tight and unique as this!
Que temazo! Pero esa melodía de gaitas inicial es como que siento haberlas escuchado en otra canción pero no sé en cuál!!!!
I love it. At 5 o clock. And 3am. Wherever your reason has gone!
Great Song ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Does anyone know on what T.V. show this appeared?
I believe it was Hullabaloo, broadcast on Monday, January 17, 1966.
@@americanmanhood Thank you!
it's 4, 30 PM world, for me.
Back when artists actually had talent, whereas today it's just filled with artists who abuse auto-tuners and voice syncs.
Where are all the fat people? All this was before mass produced garbage food
Great song with a sound that can be described as The Four Seasons meets Petula Clark meets Gene Pitney!
Incredible. -We took these songs for granted. We thought, it could only get better…. But, it didn’t, music peaked in 1979, then declined, and continues to decline
It's a five o'clock world when the whistle blows no one owns a piece of my time" - Brings me back to 1995 - thanks for the memories Shemp 🙂
This still is the definitive version of this song, years and years later😅
Wow feel like I'm back at high school dance 💃

Check it Out by John Mellencamp A million young poets, screamin' out their words To a world full of people, just livin' to be heard Future generations ridin' on the highways that we built I hope they have a better understanding Check it out Goin' to work on Monday Check it out Got yourself a family Check it out All utility bills have been paid You can't tell your best buddy that you love him So check it out Where does our time go Check it out Got a brand new house in escrow Check it out Sleepin' with your back to your loved one This is all that we've learned about happiness Check it out Forgot to say hello to my neighbors Check it out Sometimes I question my own behavior Check it out Talkin' about the girls that we've seen on the sly Just to tell our souls we're still the young lions So check it out Gettin' too drunk on Saturdays Check it out Playin' football with the kids on Sundays Check it out Soarin' with the eagles all week long And this is all that we've learned about living This is all that we've learned about living Check it out Check it out Check it out Check it out A million young poets screamin' out their words Maybe someday those words will be heard By future generations ridin' on the highways that we built Maybe they'll have a better understanding Check it out Hope they'll have a better understanding Check it out Maybe they'll have a better understanding Check it out Maybe they'll have a better understanding Check it out Hope they have a better understanding Check it out Check it out Check it out
A good reminder what it was like to interact with people instead of phones in their face or headphones on ignoring real life.
This is a perfect pop song or as close to it as you will find. ✌️👍🙏
I’ve never watched this video… makes the song even better. I agree one of his best songs… so nostalgic
This tune sticks to people.
Just brings back incredible memories of the 80's. JCM was a masterful thoughtful songwriter. This song gets you right in the heart. Such a different world we live in now.
#ugottalisten2b4udie #thevogues #fiveoclockworld In the shelter of her arms everything's okay (yeah-yeah) (up!) She talks and the world goes slipping away (it slips away) (up!
I Feel Old
This smashes any modern day track to pieces. Love strings in the background.
Organic, analog, beautiful harmonies and backing production.
The only bad thing about this song is it's too short.
I just sing it more often to compensate for the brevity. Taught me how to Yodel.
You were right dad. These lyrics are important enough to stop and listen. I miss you and I'll love you forever
it's a beauty these young, joyful kids realizing they're great!!!
This song is contagious.
This group had it all, a great beat, sound and the Swagart look....R IP
Tell me we didn't have the best music!
I just heard this for the first time this morning and it’s fire
Great song even greater video in some of the greatest times. 60s 70s and the best 80s! 90s the last great decade.
GREAT SONG!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome still listening in 2023
Does anyone under retirement age even understand the simple separation of work and life we once enjoyed?
